Last night our community held a prayer vigil for the families of Sandy Hook. It is the first time that I can recall this community having such a vigil that brought all churches together simply to pray. Beautiful! Though we are 1300 miles away, our hearts ache for these families as if we know them personally. While it is such a horrific tragedy, the beauty that God is birthing from it is evident. Our leader last night led every child to the stage where they sang, “Amazing Grace,” “Silent Night,” and “God Bless America.” We then took a moment to cast our hands toward our children and cover them in prayer….for their protection, for blessings, for them to know who they are in Christ, and for them to know His Word, “No weapon formed against you will prevail.” Isaiah 54:17
While my heart was full of grief, it became so full of gratitude that God could take what the enemy sought for harm and bring such beauty from the ashes. I turned to the news this morning, which I have been avoiding, and found images like the ones above and more. Images of compassion and prayer and hope, and signs saying,
“We are together. We are family. We are Hope. We are love.” Oh, it did my heart good!
Last night, the pastor that prayed over our children expounded on this verse in Isaiah through his prayer, and it was the first time I had really grasped the verse intimately. I use this verse often, but I suppose I see the verse in the big picture when tragedy strikes like Sandy Hook that the enemy will not prevail; however, last night it became personal. He began listing everything that our children may come against from the enemy, and claimed nothing will prevail to take our children from God………not drugs, nor alcohol, nor immorality, nor addiction, etc…. He then said, “And nothing can separate you from the love of God that surpasses our understanding.”
I was thinking of you this morning and what in your life the enemy is coming against you with that is personal and may feel like it is prevailing…..your soul is weary taking care of loved ones, you are on your knees for your children, you seek desperately for your spouse to experience all that you are and walk with you, your trust is broken, your home is on the brink of division, your drowning in financial strife, you heart is broken or lonesome, your path is uncertain and doubt crowds your thoughts, your past is rocky and you feel unworthy, you don’t know where to begin because there is to much you want to change, you battle guilt and doubt and regret? If you have found yourself in one of these places, you need to cling too no weapon formed against you will prevail, and nothing separates you from His love! If you feel like weariness is prevailing and brokenness is prevailing or division is prevailing, you must know that it is not from God. He doesn’t come in that manner. It is not His nature. When you get this, you can start walking in the authority of a child of God trusting that God will bring back what is lost and restore what is broken. Are you giving it to Him? Are you standing on His Word? Lord, you said, no weapon formed against me will prevail. I am trusting you will release( my children, my spouse, me) from this addiction. Lord, I give this to you. I am asking you step in and use my life as a testimony of your greatness!
Sweet friends, this week closing in on Christmas is suppose to be a week of JOY! Joy for the coming of our savior. It is time we hand over the ashes and say, God make my life beautiful! You promise to bring beauty from our ashes! And then we walk as if He already has given us what we have asked, because it is faith that births miracles. Ask believing and ye shall receive!
We thank you, Heavenly Father, that you are changing us. We thank you that you are unveiling us to your presence and consuming us with your love. We thank you that you have restored our homes and marriages. We thank you for the mighty Godly men in our midst and for those who are on their way! We thank you for meeting the desires of the hearts of some of these women to have their own family and babies. We thank you for finding a home for those searching and employment for those searching. We thank you for the patience you have bestowed on us, and the forgiveness that our heart is now offering. We thank you that we have become conduit of your love to others. We thank you for our spirit of revival. We thank you that we want MORE of you! We thank you that you chose us- every single one of us- to take this journey together, and we thank you that every single woman has been touched by your hand in a way that is personal and life changing. We thank you for healing us physically and emotionally. We thank you for breaking down whatever has bound us so that we now worship uninhibited. We thank you that you sent mighty warrior women on this journey with us to cover us in prayer, and that many of us have become those women! We thank you for your mercy and grace and for forgiving us where we have fallen, and for bringing us to the women you have called us to be! We are the Bride, and our hearts wait for you our eternal Husband.
In your precious name, Jesus, Amen
Seek. Love. Follow.
